Surrounding area

Typical for the Tuscan landscape are the long sandy beaches, as well as the large forests and of course the farm land with lots of olive trees and vineyards. In spring you will see lots of flowers, blooming sunflower fields, poppy and fruit trees. In summertime they have large plantations of vegetables and cereals. Autumn is the time of the brown fields; there are so many different colours in the yards, from grey to yellow to brown and red. The best travel time for countryside lovers and those who want to see some of the historical cities, is in spring and autumn. The summer is great for all those who want to swim and have beach holidays.

Flora and Fauna

There are several kind of wild animals located, such as wild boar, fallow deer, rabbits, pheasants, wild pigeons and quails. It could be that you will see a wild boar or a fallow deer in the countryside but it is unusual because they are very shy. Since the hunting on singing birds is forbidden, there came different kinds of birds back in this area like nightingales, larks, tits a.s.o.

Tuscan products


Of course the best vines; in the vineries you have the chance to taste the local vines.
The healthy, high quality olive oil; directly from the producer with a unique taste, because of the ocean air and the special soil quality.
Delicious honey; they produce honey in different tastes such as chestnut, acacia etc. also marmalades which are only sweetened with honey.

Towns where the houses and apartments are situated

Canneto - Monteverdi:

Canneto and Monteverdi belong to the same community called Monteverdi Marittimo. Canneto is a small town with one street around and several small pathways in the middle. It has one small “alimentari” which is a little supermarket and one bar. Monteverdi is a bit bigger with restaurants, post office and bank. Highly recommended is a little store called “Mucci”, they sell local specialities like cheese, wild boar ham and deer salami. Both are located on hills with nice views to the sea and the big forest which reaches almost Volterra.

Casale Marittimo:

Is a small typical Tuscan village with the typical narrow streets of cobblestone, for romantics, bon vivant and all those who want to relax. From there you have a view to the sea and with good weather conditions you are able to see the islands of Elba, Capraia, Gorgona and Corsica.
It has shopping possibilities, post office, bank, pharmacy and a few very nice restaurants especially the Pizzeria „la pergola“. There is a big forest in the area, which is called „macchia della magona“ with lots of small paths and fireplaces for hikers, bikers and horse riders.

Guardistallo:

Guardistallo is situated on a hill about 300m high with stunning views from sunrise to sunset. It is a small romantic town, typical Italian with shopping possibilities, post office, bank and pharmacy. There are some restaurants with local specialities and vineries.

Cecina:

Cecina is the nearest “big” city with a population of 30’000 people. There are all sorts of attractions such as shopping malls, market, animal and water parks. Especially Cecina Mare is known for its miles of huge pine beach. This is a sandy beach with a pine forest behind it, with small paths to picnic, walk, horse riding, hiking and biking. On the whole Etruscan coast from Vada to San Vincenzo there are several beautiful sandy beaches, including those which are very well suited for children, because the water is only knee- or hip-deep. In 40 km you are in Piombino, from there you can take the ferry to the island of Elba, popular for snorkellers and countryside lovers. All in all, a very attractive area which offers for Everyman / woman something interesting.

Every Tuesday morning, during the whole year, from 9am-1pm, they have a beautiful market, the biggest in the area with huge stands and a large selection of products.
