Sea and beach
The part of the coastline here is called the “Etruscan sea” and has got several kinds of coastal types, bays, sandy beaches, cliffs and other stone beaches. The water quality is very good because of the favourable stream. Along the coast there is a large pine forest, which spends shadow and has lots of little pathways for hikers, bikers and horse riders.
Nice beach places
Direction Livorno between Quercianella + Antignano
- stone coast, very nice
- a popular beach place of the locals
- there are only a few spaces for parking, an early arrival is recommended
- just above there is a beautiful fish restaurant with a lovely view
Marina di Donoratico / Marina di Castagneto
- flat sandy beach
- toilettes and showers are situated on the beach
- there is a small river which flows into the sea, perfect for chilrden
Vada
- because of the Soda company just next to the beach the sand became white and the water turquoise like the south sea.
- lots of people in summer time
- lovely for children, a long time just knee or hip deep water
- lots of park space but not free of charge
Golfo di Baratti
- lovely swimming bay
- sandy beach
- high dunes with huge pine trees
Golfo delle Fate
- lots of little fishes for snorkellers perfect
- not so many people
Marina die Bibbona
- Bath place with many camping grounds and lots of tourists, restaurants, bars and animation.
Cecina Mare
- popular for the locals
- lots of „Bagni“, these are beach parts with chairs and umbrellas to hire, restaurants, cabins and toilettes
- big water park with slides and animation
- south of Cecina, approx. 12 km long sandy beach, untouched and peaceful for everybody, free of charge
Between Vada – Cecina – Bibbona – Donoratico – Golfo di Baratti only sandy beach and pine forest with small paths to picnic, walk, horse riding, hiking and biking. Next to the officinal bath and beach places are all beach places free of charge and open for everybody.
There “Bau-Bau, Spiaggia per cani” especially for dogs and their owners, where the dogs do not have to be on leash. On all other beaches and into the pine forest it is a duty to have the dogs on the leash.
